Johan Thury
I lead ICT at Aura Scholen: network, identity and Microsoft 365 for secondary education. Alongside that, I build and run a small infrastructure of my own and write the automation that makes my work lighter.

Where I stand
Aura Scholen is a school group with secondary education in and around Tienen. As ICT Director I am responsible for both the direction and the day-to-day running: which applications we use, how identity and permissions are organised, and whether the network does what it promises.
I like to work close to the technology. Not because I have to, but because you can only really defend a decision once you have seen for yourself where it gets stuck.

What I do

ICT policy and leadership
Setting the direction for network, identity and applications, and keeping the ICT department running: suppliers, licences, priorities and the people who do the work.

Network and infrastructure
Firewalling, switching and wifi, virtualisation and backup. From the design on paper to the configuration that finally does the job.

Microsoft 365 and identity
Entra ID, conditional access, Exchange, Teams and the permissions structure that goes with them — in an environment with thousands of accounts.
